Thank You Atlus: Summon Night
If there is one friend to the American JRPG fans in this world is has got to be Atlus. Seriously, these guys really kick ass. It seems like every other day that goes by they are announcing the localization of yet another JRPG. Having released Baroque today, which we will be getting our mits on tonight, they have continued on with that pace to announce Summon Nights: Twin Age.
Now from what I can gather Summon Night: Twin Age isn’t really a JRPG, but it is an RPG and it is a Japanese game so that works for us. From what I saw from videos on the official website and from what I have read across the intertubes the game is more of an action RPG that plays much in the same way that Zelda: Phantom Hourglass played, which is awesome. Let’s face it, Nintendo found a winning formula with Zelda: PH, and I am more than happy to see it being used in what looks to be a standout RPG. In addition the game will feature a unique wireless transfer mode whereby you can transfer items and such to your friends. Kind of hokey, but we’ll take it.
Gameplay aside, the story takes place in a world where their are two battling races: the humans, and the Kascuza. Apparently after beating the Kascuza to an island the humans began to train themselves in the summoning magics. In order to better train themselves in the magic the humans built large facilities to study “spirits”, think Final Fantasy III (VI). After accidentally being summoned by a girl, the hero and heroine (the girl) must set out to figure out what went wrong with the spirits and how to stop them before they ruin the world. Sounds interesting enough, for a JRPG anyways. To get a more indepth storyline be sure to check out the link above. The game has an expected release date for 5/20/2008 so we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for it. Thanks for reading.
