We at RPGhead.com are seriously considering turning our website into an Atlus fansite, seriously. The company is constantly bringing us some really kick ass Japanese RPGs and, as such, they really do deserve their own fansite. Anyways, I digress from the real point of this article: Atlus has just announced Etrian Odyssey 2 Heroes of Lagaard for the Nintendo DS.

I actually got the email yesterday, but was super busy doing other things. No matter, the game looks pretty awesome. It boasts what looks to be a healthy character line-up as well as a unique battle system where you’ll not only be fighting against monsters but also against time. Now, before you start getting all worried, when I say fighting against time that doesn’t mean you’ll only have a certain amount of time to kill such and such monster or you’ll lose. No, that would not be fun at all and I certainly wouldn’t endorse a combat system as such. It actually works out a bit differently; when you are fighting each turn allows a new monster to get a bit closer to you. If you don’t kill the original monsters fast enough then they get “reinforcements”. Nothing to earth shattering but it should definitely help liven up the combat system a bit.

Aside from that nothing has really been let loose other than a few screenshots. The game has a planned release for June 17th, 2008. We will have further updates as we get em!
